Alexandra Women’s Health Project
WiA in partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa, Breast Health Foundation and the Health Department will be hosting a Health Project targeting women from the Alexandra Community.
Counsellors from other organisations dealing with cancer will offer advice and information on preventing cancer and methods of early detection.
This initiative is not restricted only to UCKG members, but is aimed at all residents of Alexandra. Mobile units from the Department of Health will park in the parking lot of our Alexandra 1 church to conduct preventative medical examinations.
It’s often been said that “knowledge is power” and WiA members have again prepared themselves by attending a two-day seminar to be better equipped to offer informed counselling from February 4th to 6th – from 8am to 5pm.
In support of the fight against cancer, WiA’s team will be at Johannesburg Hospital’s oncology ward to encourage those undergoing treatment. WiA would like to take the opportunity to thank Bev Du Toit and her team, from CANSA and Luise Turner and her team, from BHF for the attention and care extended to WiA during the recent workshops.
We count on you – Women from Alexandra – to invite your friends, neighbours and relatives to join us in this Health Project. Prevention and early detection are the best treatment.
